Sidi Bel Abbas is seen as the most important saint of Marrakesh and is often referred as the patron saint of Marrakesh.
Born in Ceuta in 1129, Sidi Bel Abbas was a strong believer in supporting the less fortunate, destitute and sick and handing out food to the poor.
Food is often distributed to those in need outside his burial tomb to this day. It is the most visited of the Sufi shrines in Marrakesh.
