Rmilate / Paradise Beach, Asilah, Morocco
Tourists swimming and enjoying the Paradise Beach, Asilah, Morocco, 2015-08-09.
Paradise may be somewhat of an over statement, but the beach 2km south of Asilah is worth a visit.
Collective taxis run back and forth throughout the day from nearby the Banque Populaire in the centre of Asilah and return back to town from the beach around sunset.
Sharing a collective taxi is an interesting adventure in itself, as you pass by unspoilt areas of Morocco’s rugged coastline.
Known locally as ‘Rmilate’, the beach is packed full of tourists during the summer months and is best visited off season, when you can expect to have a large space to yourself.
Numerous cabin hut restaurants line the base of the cliffs enclosing the beach, serving up freshly grilled sardines, moroccan salads and fish tagines.
This beach is much more clean and wild than the main beach strip adjacent to the main town of Asilah. It’s worth taking the short collective taxi ride out to this beach when seeking a day out by the seaside rather than camping on the main Asilah beach.
