Borth Sunken Forest, Ceredigion, Wales

BORTH, WALES, UK 18TH AUGUST 2019 - Person walking on Borth beach amid the ancient sunken forest which appears at low tide. Known as ‘the lowland hundred’ or the ‘sunken hundred,’ the ancient tree stumps have been preserved by the sand and peat for thousands of years and are believed to be connected to the mythical kingdom of Cantre’r Gwaelod. Small areas were uncovered by extreme stormy weather in 2010 and 2014, but the majority were unearthed by Storm Hannah in 2019.
