Borth Sunken Forest, Ceredigion, Wales
BORTH, WALES, UK 17TH MARCH 2020 - Landscape of ancient petrified tree stumps lining the shoreline at Borth Beach, County of Ceredigion, Mid Wales, UK.
Appearing at low tide and known as ‘the lowland hundred’ or the ‘sunken hundred,’ the ancient stumps have been preserved by the sand and peat for thousands of years and are believed to be connected to the mythical kingdom of Cantre’r Gwaelod. Small areas were uncovered by extreme stormy weather in 2010 and 2014, but the majority were unearthed by Storm Hannah in 2019.
